Executive Leadership

The Sandhills Regional Education Consortium launched its first Executive Leadership session for thirty principals from across our region, focusing on Instructional Leadership and the critical role school leaders play in strengthening teaching and learning. The professional development is designed for principals of low performing schools, principals in their first three years and principals who want to become stronger instructional leaders.

During this inaugural session, principals engaged with Dr. Hargrave, Dr. Williamson, and trainers (Dr. Windy Dorsey-Carr, Ms. Amanda Graham, and Dr. Debra Dowless) as they explored how to become stronger instructional leaders within their buildings. Leaders began by sharing their personal journeys to school leadership, then took the first steps toward developing a Root Cause Analysis to identify gaps in improvements. Leaders were also given the opportunity to create a weekly calendar focused on balancing instructional versus managerial leadership, with the goal of spending 80% to 85% of their day in instructional leadership. These activities were designed to help guide and navigate their professional development journey throughout the school year.

The excitement, collaboration, and engagement demonstrated by these leaders were truly inspiring. Their willingness to learn, reflect, and work together is a powerful indication that the Sandhills is developing something special—an intentional leadership network committed to supporting educators and improving learning outcomes for every student.
